The Repoussé Basket
An ornate silver-plated basket with a pedestal base, scalloped rim and graceful swing handle. Its surface is covered in raised flowers, leaves and curling scrollwork—the exuberant decoration associated with late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century table silver. It even came with its original little serving tongs.
Originally made for the table, baskets like this were used for everything from cakes and fruit to sweets and flowers. We found another purpose for it.
