Found at an estate sale in Hancock Park, this vintage American silver-plated serving bowl was made by Wm. Rogers & Son and bears pattern number 427.
Its softly scalloped rim is pierced with delicate ornament, while small feet give the bowl a graceful, almost elevated presence.
Once made for serving at the table, it has been filled with three wicks and candlelight—equally at home beside the bath, on a bedside table, or anywhere a small pool of light is welcome.
