Le Flacon Français — The French Pewter & Glass Decanter
A wonderful old French find in clear glass and beautifully aged pewter.
The cylindrical glass body is framed in pewter, with a domed shoulder, slender neck and substantial stopper. Delicate beaded borders finish the metalwork, while an impressed motif can be seen through the bottom of the glass.
Pieces of this type were made in France for serving spirits and other liquids. We love it now just as much as an object—on a bar, tucked among bottles, or sitting alone on a shelf.
The pewter retains its original patina, scratches, darkening and signs of age. The glass shows the small imperfections expected of a vintage piece. We have left all of it exactly as we like to find it.
