La Grande Dame is an extraordinary oversized vintage centerpiece bowl, rising on a substantial pedestal foot with a beautifully hammered surface, beaded rim and wonderfully theatrical sculptural animal-head handles.
At eighteen inches from handle to handle and weighing more than three pounds, she has real presence. This is not a little bowl pretending to be important. She is the centerpiece.
Fill her with garden roses and branches, pile her with fruit, bring her out for dinner—or leave her completely empty. We rather like her exactly as she is.
Her silver-toned surface bears the scratches, tarnish, rubbing and variations in finish that come with age. She is unmarked, and rather than invent a maker or provenance, we’ll simply leave that particular mystery with her.
